Yay.. Love Dante. Don't love Pizza, gimme Lasagna ^^

Ok. I'm freking bored, fed up, sick to death with my style. You can't call it style anyway. I started out wanting to draw as realistic as possible, then came comics, then I was influenced by manga, later videogames. I don't want to hide that, nor do I dislike that. But halfway through all of that something went terribly wrong. All I draw is "pretty pictures". I even can't ink anymore. And all those pretty pictures.. don't get me anywhere.

I was offered a few chances - job opportunities that is. I'm not allowed to talk about those, let's just say, they are tempting, but unpaid, yet still require me to work my butt off. They require even more than just unpaid work hours, paying for drawing materials and what not, I need to work on my artsy side. You know, don't draw just pretty pictures, DEVELOPE a STYLE your own. I have good knowledge, I have a lot of things in mind I like... however, all those thoughtsstrings go in different directions and artistically this is quite numbing and my times running out...

I think, I don't have a personality and art is about personality. What am I to do? I can't go to tibet pray with a monk to find that goddam artist within myself -_-;

That's my problem! I'm totally selftaught and that methode has it's limits. I need some Obi Wan Kenobi O__O; or Yoda.

Wow.. quite a long rant for such a mdeiocre fanart. Poor Dante...

I think as a professional artist it's better NOT to have a style. When you change and adapt your work to fit any drawing style, you're opening yourself up to more job opportunities. Take animators for example, sticking to your own style will get you nowhere; you have to fit the style of the show you're working on. I think it's more important to just know how to draw X P

Time's running out? Errr... what? Are you dying soon? If it's fame you are aiming for - well, some people got famous at the age of 50. If you want to become famous on the field of cartoon illustration, maybe you should do some more mainstream stuff - like cute grrls with huge eyes and the like. If you want to make art for a living, mainstream is the key to success - whether it's about manga or realism.

But you are right. Good art isn't just about pretty pictures. It's mostly about good storytelling. Maybe you don't need a 'new style". You just need a good story. Art is about imagination.

Hmmm.... pizza XD

Nah, I don't die Oo;; I have.. jobs to do and I'm asked to adapt/go stylised or at least do something about my style. That's a bit of a problem... I don't have the time to do a lot of testing, practising and such.. In fact I could just begin with the work and I have to practise while I'm working. Meaning, work, that's going to be published and "professional" is still lowlevel. In my opnion and part of it is fact.

hmm that's kinda weird because I adore your style, I think it's unique how it is in sever ways. Not to mention I love your ability to make beutiful humorous things. But.. eh.. guess it's up to the employer to say what they like and don't like...
