Artist's Comments

Yay, how to paint an apple! Or to be more precise - this is the way I paint in Photoshop. Maybe NOW you understand why it's relatively pointless to ask for a "recipe". I can't hold your hand while painting, I can't tell you which color is right, which is wrong. You need to practise on your own.

So, this tutorial is a zip-file. In it you'll find an avi-file and you'll see me painting an apple, I've made sure to include as much of the brush-menues as possible, layers andandand. I'm using a german copy of Photoshop. For translation, click link: [link]

I used a real apple for reference, no photo. By the way - I'm allergic to apples, anyone want an apple? Yes, it took that long to paint the apple! The file is 43 MB, so please don't download it like crazy, k?

I may sound a little annoyed.. truth: I am. I do like to help, but how am I going to help you, if it took me one full year to understand how to properly paint in Photoshop when most of you seem to believe that it just takes a few words from me and you'll be able to paint like Enayla? The program is NOT difficult to understand. What causes you problem is lack of practise and lack of understanding how color works. Please understand that's something I can't magically "give" you. You have to read other tutorials, books, train your eye and that's what I'm doing, too. I still need to improve, I really do.

So, now, grab yourself an apple and paint it '_'. Or a peach. or something else. Start small. Or really try to find out why some colors just don't work and why Photoshop is giving you so much trouble.

The brushes are a brush-set I downloaded from Tascha's page. I recognise some of those brushes which belong to others are from a german forum. I don't claim I created these at all.

And while you're browsing Taschas site, then take your time to read the tutorials, too. [link] There are veryvery useful.

Now, please don't think I'm rude. There is nothing wrong with asking me to help - but I'm no fairy. Simsalabimm. wow, what a long rant. Thanks for your patience and here is the link to the tutorial:

Wow! This would have been really helpful back when I was doing my snow white parody... But with this tutorial, I'm sure I'll find use for more apples in the future! Thank you! ^_^

I always love seeing how other artists work, whether its done like this or a lengthy wordy tutorial. ^_^

And not necessarily becasue I'd expect it to make me as talented as the artist when its done, but because i may learn different techniques, something new about photoshop i didnt know before. Even those small tidbits are at least a grain of sand in trying to build a mountain :)

It seems that peoples who ant to learn are too lazy to think, to do a researche and to practice. Most of them wnat something ready to undertand, like a little magic trick. You just move your

Der Apfel sieht wirklich toll aus. Erinnert mich daran, dass ich mehr "from life" zeichnen sollte xD Das ist wohl der beste Weg überhaupt, zu üben...
